Hello classmates:

This year Chile celebrated 200 years of independence, and with these many changes become. Some of them is the new plans for education, health and economy.

The new government has established new ideas in order that in this bicentenary we manage to be a developed country. But with all those ideas, we have to help too and this way we can build a great community that leads us to being recognized as the best country of latinoamérica. Nevertheless, this year was very different to others, due to we cross many painful events.

These bicentennial year, many thing happens and one of them at the begining of the year, February 27^th, the Earthquake. It was so terrible, that many people died, and we realized all the things that do not work in the country, like for example, the emergency´s system, or moreover the poorly built and the supervision.

Then we have to the miners tragedy, but furtunaly everything go out good. But these problem left several legal emptinesses, like the no control of the minery and their contract of employment.

And when all these finished, the Health Minister Jaime Mañalich and Education Minister Joaquin Lavin They spoke about the new laws of the respective portfolios. Of the Heath side, the Minister said that the emergency contraception pill and therapeutic abortion is not possible for women, and I consider that he is wrong about that because we have right to choose for our life and our well-being better that anybody.

And for the other side, the Education, the new Minister said that whole people who will study pedagogy next year will do free and this way will assure themselves of having the professionals adapted for the future of our children, and I belive that these is a bad idea because in my point of view, now the people study just for go to the University and not for vocation.

For all these things, in my opinion these bicentennial year of Chile, is just one more year, because with these changes, we will never become in developed country... We lack much to achieve it and for which I believe that only we still have to give the better thing of us to reach with a granite to this immense society!!!

The past class came to our English group, the PhD Lorena Binfa. She is a midwife and she spoke about the abortion and the different alternatives to control the birth. Well, it is truth that in Chile the abortion is a taboo subject for population and we are permanently under Catholic´s judged, and this is an impediment to legislate about the cruel reality of abortion situation.

Well in Chile, this is a big problem because the people who have the option to legislate about abortion are majority men, it mean, women cannot decide for themselves, for their physical and mental health.

Now is funny see in the news some rules about the conception, like in Coquimbo, where the emergency pill was banned for women and I think that this is the worst option due to in my view, each woman decide about her future like a mom and many of these woman are the most affected by this measure and paradoxically they are those of fewer economic resources. Why these? Well because if in this country if you have money you can get the pill on pharmacies. So, we have to admit that the people start to having sex at a younger age and if we do not have a good contraception mechanism the women will resort to the abortion or even more abandoned children.

For all these, I believe that like country we have to fight for our rights like women and fight for the next generations…

The stress is one of the most important diseases that concern our world. In Chile, 55% of the population show to feel constant stress, already be due to work, studies or daily housekeeping.

This illness is so important, that many investigators have decided to study more thoroughly the reasons than us lead to a stressful episode and how we can minimize the effects that make us collapse.

The stress does not do distinction of social groups not of age, rather, any person is susceptible of suffering it.

To understand a little bit more about this subject, I have decided to give to you the principal characteristics of this mental illness, that it attack each time with more strong to the chilean population.

Acoording to the realized survey to the population, the factors that generate a profile of stress are the worries in the economic area, level of studies and familiar relations; on the other hand, the typical symptoms are: irritability, strain, tiredness, sleep disorders, stomach discomfort, excessive perspiration, nauseas, breathlessness, between others. Some of these symptoms can be so severe that could cause death due to increase the risks of suffer from depression (suicide), to terminal disease (cancer).

To prevent or treat the stress, is necessary that the person devotes a little time for itself, in a quiet place for think about the possible reasons of stress, and where he/she could look for and to plan some practical solutions (antistress therapies, breath deeply, massage therapie), or practise relaxation´s techniques (yoga) or even, practise some sport.

If the stress exceed us, the best that we can do, is to turn to a specialist, who will do to us a routine of relaxation and breath exercises, and if depression is detected, them more probable it is that will recommend a pharmacological therapy.

For all these reasons, is important to emphasize that when we detect the symptoms, the main treatment is change our hectic life.

The emergency contraception pill is one of the most important and difficult topic to discuss actually in my country, because there are many different opinions about if the administrations of the pill is or is not an abortive method.

Well, in spite of the available information, many investigations, conclude that the Levonorgestrel is not an abortive pill due to the fact that it does not interfere in the gestation or development’s embryo process, but there are some investigations that refute those ideas saying that the pill interferes on the process because the life begins at the conception moment and not on the implantation time.

My opinion about this topic is that the emergency contraception pill is not an abortive method, due to I believe that the life begins at the moment of the implantation, when we are cellular structure totipotentials and we are ready to development and grow up like human being. For those reasons I agree with the administration of the pill in Chile, and of some way too we could have a control about the planned and not planned pregnancies, prevent teenager’s pregnancy or abandoned and ill-treated children. But with these, I want to clarify that I think in the feminine power of decision, and I believe that the woman is self-possessed of the own, and that men can not decide for us and for our body and its biological process.

To finish, I want to say that the administration of the emergency contraception, must go accompanied of new public policies with regard to the sexual and reproductive education in homes and colleges and of course another contraception options.

Hello, today I going to speak about the Bicentenary of Chile

In a few days it will be commemorated, in my country, the “Fiestas Patrias”. This day is the anniversary of the Chile´s independence and is a day for celebrate with dances, tipical games, “chicha” and tipical food.

Well my interest for these date emerge due to like one week ago, in O´Higgins Park, I saw the people building the “fondas or ramadas”, a tipical place to celebrate to our country.

This year is a very special year for chilean people because it is fulfilled 200 years of republican life and for that reason we have four days to celebrate, and many events too. For all this, the september 18^th of 2010 is a very significant date and is a reason to be proud of our traditions and moreover to our culture.

I hope that all of us have an amazing weekend with the friends and with the family, and that we eat many food mainly “empanadas” and of course, that we dance cueca (our tipical dance), and that the children climb theirs kites. All of these are my wishes for my compatriots because in my opinion, these 2010, are a different and a difficult year beggining with the govertment´s change, follow with the earthquake and with the tragedy of the miners, respectively.

I just want say with these words, that I wish to all of chilean compatriots, the best September 18^th, and that we all enjoy of this important date for our country, and that we never forget either our traditions or roots...

Hi!!

This day I am going to speak about my favorite book called “The Latino- American Socialism, a tour up to our times”, that my father has in a book collection and that I began to read in my winter vacations of this year.

This book, talk about the history of the latinoamerican countries and show us a review about some political figures who fought for their ideals and shared them with the people... the ideals of a political color rarely taken in account and that in the past, it provoked the biggest revolts never seen in the history.

This book, is my favorite book because in my opinion, tell us some specific moment of Cuba, Chile, Perú, Colombia, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Argentina, Mexico y Venezuela, in a didactic way... across letters or written or well-read speeches in moments of social revolts. It is as well as includes the thoughts of Salvador Allende, Schafik Handal or Fidel Castro, for example.

I think that this book, is an example of many books that talk of this topic, is important to know the different opinions about the govertment way and to be able like that to forge an own opinion of what happens in the respective country, already be, thoughts of democracy, communism, conservatives, etc. , and we have to learn of the history for respect and to contribute to the development of a better country to avoid the same mistakes of the past and that sometimes make us hurts unable to get over.

Today I am going to talk about my experience in the blog. For me, write about anything always it has been difficult, because the fact of explain what I feel or what I want to do in my professional future, neither I know. So when I knew that one of the tasks that we had to develop in the English class it was to write in a blog I just freak out… But with the time, express myself across the words was done increasingly easily, so now I learned about many things that are related to the feelings and thoughts of my classmates.

Write in the blog was an amazing experience to me, since I meet better to my classmates; I know about theirs dreams, their opinions and their plains for their futures like midwifering, and they could meet me too…

I hope that this has been an incentive and a help to know other facets of the ways of learning English and also I hope that nobody lose the contact across these blogs ... and that they continue writing about the topics that incumbent to us in the present and if it is possible to extend the network of bloggers and of professionals midwifering in the world.
